We collect as little information as possible. We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. If you use the free version of this site, you can study completely anonymously. If you create an account or subscribe, we collect only what we need to provide the service. That is it.
1. Who we are
PassTheCivicsTest.org is operated by PassTheCivicsTest LLC, a Massachusetts limited liability company. We provide educational study materials for the U.S. naturalization civics test. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) or any other government agency.

2. Information we collect
Information you give us directly
- Email address — if you create an account, subscribe to Pro, or opt in to receive updates. You can use the free study guide without providing any personal information.
- Payment information — if you subscribe to Pro, your payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number. Stripe's privacy policy governs payment data.
- Feedback and messages — if you submit feedback, suggest an edit, or contact us, we collect the content of that message and any contact information you choose to provide.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data — pages visited, questions answered, time spent studying. This helps us improve the site and personalize your practice experience. It is not tied to your identity unless you are logged in.
- Device and browser information — browser type, operating system, screen size. Used to make sure the site works properly on your device.
- IP address — collected automatically by our servers. We use this to detect fraud and abuse, and to understand roughly where our users are located. We do not use IP addresses to identify individuals.
- Cookies — small files stored in your browser that help us remember your preferences and keep you logged in. See Section 6 for more details.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect your immigration status, nationality, case number, or any other sensitive immigration information. We do not ask for it and you should not provide it.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and improve the study guide and practice test features
- Personalize your experience — tracking which questions you have answered and which need more practice
- Process your subscription payment and manage your account
- Send you account-related emails (receipts, password resets, subscription notices)
- Send you product updates if you have opted in — you can unsubscribe at any time
- Respond to your feedback and support requests
- Detect and prevent fraudulent or abusive use of the site
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell your information to third parties. We do not share your information with immigration enforcement agencies.
4. How we share your information
We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers — we use third-party companies to help operate the site, including payment processing (Stripe), email delivery, and hosting. These companies have access to information only as needed to perform their services and are bound by confidentiality agreements.
- Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or other legal process. We will notify you of any such request unless we are legally prohibited from doing so.
- Business transfers — if the business is sold or merged, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before that happens.
- With your consent — we will share information in any other circumstance only with your explicit permission.
We will never voluntarily share your information with immigration enforcement, government agencies, or any party that could use it to harm you or members of your community.
5. Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it longer.
Anonymous usage data — practice test scores, questions answered — may be retained longer in aggregate form to help us improve the site. This data cannot be linked back to you individually.
6. Cookies
We use the following types of cookies:
- Essential cookies — required for the site to function. These keep you logged in and remember your preferences. You cannot opt out of these without disabling the site.
- Analytics cookies — help us understand how people use the site so we can improve it. We use privacy-friendly analytics that do not track you across other websites.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some features of the site.
